Taiwanese display screen manufacturer TPK has sued Nokia in Xiamen, Fujian, for infringement of its patent related to capacitive touch screen technology, and asked for a compensation of CNY26.9 million.
According to TPK, the patent will help produce thinner touch screens. Apart from the compensation, the company also required Nokia to stop production and sales of devices using the technology.
TPK also sued two Chinese panel makers, Compal Communications and O-film Tech along with their respective retailers, for the same reason. TPK asked these two companies to stop production and sales of related products, as well as compensation of CNY60.6 million from O-film Tech.
The lawsuit has been accepted by a court in Xiamen, a southern Chinese city, and the three defendants will soon learn about the detailed allegations.
Commenting on the lawsuit, a spokesperson from Nokia said that they have been informed of the lawsuit and will research the related charges.
