Xi'an Will Be Master Kong's Latest Instant Noodle Production Base In China

Taiwanese food and beverage company Master Kong has started the construction of a new instant noodle production line in Xi'an, provincial capital of Shaanxi province.

Located in Xi'an Economic and Technological Development Zone, Master Kong's new project is a comprehensive industrial park project covering instant noodle production. With total investments of USD220 million, the new product line will have an annual output of CNY3.5 billion on its completion, making it the largest instant noodle production line in Asia.

Huang Ziqiang, general manager for Master Kong Xi'an branch, introduced that Master Kong's comprehensive industrial park covers an area of about 460 mu. It will include Master Kong's new instant noodle production base and a carton production plant. After putting into production, this project is expected to contribute annual tax of CNY290 million.

A representative from the municipal government of Xi'an said that with more Taiwanese enterprises locating in Xi'an, the Xi'an Economic and Technological Development Zone has planned and created a special area for these enterprises, aiming to provide the best platform for Taiwanese investors who want to invest in the middle and western areas of mainland China.

It is said that Master Kong's sales from its instant noodle business increased 22.54% year-on-year to USD3.59 billion in 2011, and its net profit from the business reached USD306 million, accounted for 60% of the company's operating revenue.
